Description

Every year more than 2,000 babies die in the U.S. from sudden infant death syndrome. Although experts have not yet pinpointed the cause for SIDS, there are things parents can do to reduce their childs risk. Dr. Bruder Stapleton, Pediatrician-in-Chief, has some tips for parents. Babies should be placed on their back as a preventive step. Removal of bedding, stuffed animals is also an important preventive step. There is no evidence that wedges or other preventive bed gear are helpful. Pacifiers have been shown to be helpful. Co-sleeping with parents is not recommended.
